As we sorted, investigated, booked and then confirmed flights and sorted the paperwork to get our baby [puppy] home, the various areas to deal with meant that I did deal with a few employees…and I have to say they ALL were polite and SO helpful. Your pet travels in the cargo hold, located in the belly of the aircraft. It's pressurised, temperature-controlled (between 18-22°C), and dimly lit - conditions similar to the passenger cabin. The gentle hum of the aircraft means most pets spend the journey quietly dozing.
For all international flights pets must travel in the cargo hold. For the vast majority of domestic flights and pets they are also required to travel in the cargo hold. Only registered service animals are permitted in the cabin.
Current vaccinations and parasite treatments are required before travel.
- Dogs must have a current C5 vaccination (or equivalent)
- Cats must have a current F3 vaccination
- Flea, tick, and worming treatments must be current for the full duration of travel
- Vaccinations and deworming should be completed at least 2 weeks before transport
- Puppies and kittens may travel from 10 days after their final vaccination
You'll need to provide valid vaccination certificates before travel. If documentation is incomplete or out of date, transport may be delayed or cancelled.
While inoculation reduces risk, not all airborne or contact infections are preventable. We are not liable for any infection of your Pet.
We recommend not feeding your pet within 8 hours of their flight, as this can cause travel sickness. We make sure they have access to water leading up to and during the flight, and at every stopover if there's a connecting flight.
No. We strongly advise against it. Sedatives can affect your pet's breathing and cardiovascular function at altitude, cause disorientation, and increase the risk of injury. If your pet travels anxiously, ask us about calming alternatives when you book. If your vet has prescribed sedation, you must disclose this to us before travel. In most cases the airline will refuse to board your pet, so please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your options. We cannot accept responsibility for any adverse effects resulting from sedation.
Yes, but it needs to meet airline compliance standards. Key requirements include:
- Rigid, undamaged construction
- Round ventilation holes on at least three sides (elongated or linear holes are not accepted by airlines)
- Bolt fasteners (not clips or spring-loaded latches)
- A handle for safe lifting
- Enough space for your pet to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably
- An open-top water bowl securely attached inside the door

If a flight is cancelled or delayed due to weather, operational issues, or other circumstances outside our control, our team will work with the airline to get your pet on the next available service and keep you updated throughout.
Please note that additional accommodation, transport, or airline fees may apply depending on the situation.
Pet insurance is not included in transport fees. Pets travel at the owner's risk, and we strongly encourage you to arrange your own comprehensive pet travel insurance before travel to cover illness, injury, delays, or unexpected events.
